Release notes that actually ship

Publish a release on GitHub. Get a changelog, a tweet thread, and a LinkedIn post — grouped by change, written in your tone, waiting as a draft you approve.

Free plan, no credit card. Read-only GitHub access you can revoke at any time.

Our own changelog is written by ShipJournal. Read it

Example output: from 23 commits since v1.4.0, ShipJournal drafts a grouped changelog — two new features, one improvement, one fix — plus ready-to-post Twitter and LinkedIn copy.

From commit soup to something people read

ONE RELEASE, THREE AUDIENCES

Your users don't read like your engineers do

On Pro, ShipJournal writes each release three ways: plain-language for end users, technical for developers, and outcome-focused for stakeholders. Same commits, right words for each reader.

END USERS“You can now switch to dark mode! Find the toggle in Settings → Appearance.”
DEVELOPERS“Added HMAC-signed webhook delivery on release publish, with exponential-backoff retries.”
STAKEHOLDERS“Shipped two most-requested features this cycle; sync performance up 4× for enterprise-scale repos.”

Everything you need to ship in public

We handle the boring parts of shipping so you can focus on building.

Hosted changelog page

A public, SEO-friendly changelog at a shareable URL. Zero config.

  • Summaries you can edit

We group commits by type — features, improvements, fixes — and write readable summaries. Review and edit anything before it goes live.

  • Social copy, written for you

Every release includes ready-to-share Twitter/X and LinkedIn copy beside your changelog, so the whole announcement stays in one review flow.

Before you connect your repo

What GitHub permissions do you need?

ShipJournal's GitHub App has read-only Contents and Metadata access for only the repositories you select. It reads commits, diffs, tags, and release events, but it cannot write to your code. You can revoke access in GitHub at any time.

Does it work with private repos?

Yes. ShipJournal can read private repositories you choose. Generated releases stay out of public changelog routes until you explicitly publish them.

Can I edit what the AI writes?

Always. Every generated release starts as a draft in your dashboard. Review and edit the title, summary, changelog, and social copy before you publish.

Can I make it sound like us?

Each project has a tone setting — friendly, professional, playful, or minimal — that applies to every release it generates. Set it once and future releases follow it, and you can still edit any draft before publishing.

What happens to my data if I leave?

Our Privacy Policy says account data is deleted within 30 days after account deletion. You can also request an export of your data and generated content before you leave.
